Just bought it! Solid, beautifully milled! Plus the beautiful ash handle! The Ci1 tool
is even more awesome than I expected! I have never turned before and am making all types of beautiful turnings ! Fast, fun and furious! Start to finish with only the Ci1 and sand paper!
You have cut the learning curve on turning almost straight. Even my 11year old makes swords, it is so easy and safe. The chip deflector works great too. Plus with the carbide no sharpening, yahoo! Thanks again and look forward to more tools! |

I have to agree. I now am the proud owner of one of these tools and gave it a spin, so to speak, today. I've had a piece of oak burl on the lathe that has been giving me a fit. Let's just say that the block was dry when I got it and I've had it for a number of years. Needless to say, it was HARD. Anyway, when the Ci1 came in I immediately thought of this piece of wood.
So, today I put the carbide cutter to the test. After reviewing the Craig's notes I adjusted my tool rest and went to work. The carbide cut into that really hard oak like nobody's business. In a matter of about a half hour I had the inside of that blank down to an acceptable thickness that I could start with the regular tools to finish up.
Boys and girls, if you are turning anything that is difficult for what ever reason, this is a tool that will get you out of that jam. It was a pleasure to use. I'm excited about using it more for the roughing process with wood that isn't nearly as hard and contrary as that old oak burl. It did all that it was advertised to do and more in my book. I can see a lot of orders for new cutters in the future. A huge thank you to Craig for coming up with a great tool and allowing me to test it. |

I just received my new Ci1 tools a few days ago and have had a chance to use them a bit on green and dry wood. I must say they are excellent and more than meet the advertising. I would recommend them to you as they seem very easy for new turners to use with fewer, almost no, catches. |

I hate [when] others put words in my mouth. So I am not going to do it either. Joe Herrmann, editor of Woodturning Magazine introduced (I am not saying endorse or recommend) the [Ci1 EasyRougher] to us at a club demo he did for us today.
After his coat hanger demo, he chucked up a bowl blank, demonstrated and talked about this tool. He also gave out the purchase information to members. I know it started here. When he passed the tool around, I noticed it was a well made tool, [the] finish and fit [were] first class.
Joe is member of our Club. Being editor of woodturning magazine, I believe he may have numerous offers on trying out new things. It seems to me he is excited about this [Ci1] EasyRougher and eager to share with us. To be honest, I was kind of skeptical when I first saw it in on YouTube. What would I need a rougher for? Seeing it in person has changed my mind. |

I agree with you as far as being skeptical & if something is "to good to be true" I would always wait for a couple of people to try it out. The only reason I have one is Craig sent me a production model & not a prototype I guess cause my skepticism of this tool. After using it myself I am convinced that the tool does exactly as he told us it is a joy to use especially for me cause I have a tendency of holding my tools very hard. cause I'm trying to force the tool to do what I want, by using Craig's tool & seeing how gently I'm holding it this is transferring to my holding my other tools I'm less trying to force the tool & letting the tool do the work. I wholeheartedly endorse Craig's tool it along with my Thompson's I am in turners heaven. |

Seeing is believing, but using is in another category. I saw the video and I believed what I saw. That made me want one. Now that I have it, I still can't find anything it won't do that I think it should. To offer this tool with 100% financial return if not satisfied is definitely going above and beyond, but it shows how confident you are about your product. Skepticism is natural, and I'm one of the biggest skeptics around, I think. But I knew that video wasn't faked. As I told you when we first talked, I said to my son, either that's a darn good tool or that guy has the forearms of Popeye to pull a tool through walnut that easily. Now that I have one, I KNOW it's a darn good tool. I don't know about your forearms, so I'll remain a skeptic on that.
I will be following this post just because I would like to know if anyone has found a "weakness" during their testing. I'm not gonna say it will do everything, and I don't think Craig will say it either, but I've found that it does things that Craig probably didn't expect it to. |

I found your package on my doorstep after work and went straight for the shop. Let me tell you not only does it perform exactly as your videos. It is one of the finest crafted turning tools I have ever seen. I tried it on a piece of material I have been waiting to tackle: a 8"x8"x4" seasoned block of Purpleheart. I had tried roughing this blank earlier this week with my 3/4" roughing gauge, I sharpened the tool every 3-5 minutes and still managed to only remove a 1/2" or so from the corners after 30 minutes. But the the Ci1 was able to rough the blank down in 1-2 minutes (at 500-600rpms). I am extremely happy and know I will enjoy using this tool for years to come. And as I stated earlier this is a very handsome tool, the Persimmon 2 grip handle is very comfortable and has an excellent balance.
I will be ordering the Ci2 as soon as you are ready for the production runs, with the same handle (same length if possible). And what ever inserts you have. You let me know when you are ready to ship, and the invoice amount, and I will send you a check the same day. |
